HD Ratings: Redesign Stops Rose’s Rot

Rescheduling The Blue Rose from 8.30 Monday to 9.30 has largely arrested the Kiwi drama’s audience erosion.

This week’s episode haemorrhaged household shoppers but held firm with other key demographics.

It averaged 1.4% – 4.3% compared to last week’s 2.8% – 4.5% and in most demos tripled the viewership of The Americans the previous week (in its new 11.15 slot, The Americans averaged 0.0% – 1.0%).

Moreover, replacing Rose at 8.30 with Grand Designs Australia proved to be a dynamic lifter for TV3’s ratings, with the building show averaging 4.5% – 7.0%.

And that was in the face of higher viewership for HD competition Criminal Minds (6.1% – 9.0%) and The Big Bang Theory (11.4% – 15.1%).

The Following, at 9.30, also was up, with 3.0% – 8.2%, but TV2’s cooking shows still ruled, with My Kitchen Rules mostly out-rating lead-in Shortland Street (13.4% – 19.8%).

TV One and TV3’s HD reality rivals see-sawed, with Piha Rescue averaging 4.7% – 9.0%, Rapid Response 4.9% – 9.1%, Crime Exposed 5.3% – 7.0% and Territory Cops 5.8% – 8.5%.

MKR also dominated on Tuesday, leaving Modern Family with 5.2% – 6.9% of key demos, Go On with 2.7% – 6.7%, Surveillance Oz with 3.6% – 6.2% and SCU with 5.4% – 7.7%.

Fighting it out for supremacy at 8.30-ish were Africa (6.2% – 8.5%) and Revenge (6.6% – 12.9%), leaving NCIS with 3.1% – 7.6%; an hour later, NCIS: Los Angeles averaged 2.0% – 7.0%.
