HD Ratings: Reno Doesn’t Rule the House

The second episode of Reno Rumble improved in an earlier slot but isn’t shaping up to be another My Kitchen Rules for TV2.

Monday’s broadcast averaged 5.7% – 10.4% of the commercial demographics, which was roughly half the viewership of lead-in Shortland Street (12.5% – 17.4%).

TV1’s The Force (8.7% – 13.2%) and Criminal Minds (5.5% – 7.7%) beat it in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos, where it seesawed with TV3’s MasterChef NZ (4.7% – 6.1%).

The cooking show finished third at 7.30 but was up sharply on another Aussie import, lead-out Shark Tank, the premiere of which predictably tanked (2.3% – 3.9%).

Why TV3 thought Kiwis would be interested in an Ocker knock-off of Dragon’s Den is more puzzling than programmers taking another punt on a Homeland-lite drama after bombing with State of Affairs.

15040603434691896Odyssey promptly went belly up, averaging only 1.2% – 2.6%, and is unlikely to complete its journey in peak hour — don’t be surprised if TV3 reverts to 8.30 movies if both shows don’t pick up smartly.

The evening started better for the network with Campbell Live successor Story averaging a creditable 4.5% – 5.8% for its premiere, placing it less than a point behind Seven Sharp in the younger demos.

TV2’s Tabatha Takes Over (4.0% – 9.3%) won the 9.30 hour in all the key demos except 25-54, who opted for TV1’s Castle (3.3% – 5.6%).

TV3’s post-8.30 slump helped TV1 to win two of the key demos off the back of its One News and reality shows’ ratings while TV2 won the others:
