HD Ratings: Resurrection Runs Rife

TV2’s premiere of Resurrection on Wednesday left the competition for dead.

Debuting on the back of My Kitchen Rules, the new drama averaged an astonishing 12.8% – 18.4% of the major demographics, and was most popular among household shoppers with kids.

But barely a point separated it from MKR (14.8% – 19.0%) in all the key demos except 18-39 year-olds, where the gap widened to 2.6 points.

Moreover, Resurrection didn’t just cash in on MRK’s appeal — it largely sustained the audience over the hour.

And the shares it earned were phenomenal: from a 45.3% share of 25-54 year-olds watching TV at the time to a 57.9% share of HHS/k.

Indeed, in every key demo except 18-39 Resurrection scored bigger shares than MKR.

The drama’s popularity help Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s return in a later slot to rate a creditable 5.0% – 7.9%.

The rest of the night’s peak-hour HD fare rated as follows: Shortland Street (13.1% – 16.0%), Highway Cops (4.4% – 7.3%), Crime Exposed (3.0% – 4.6%) and Nashville (1.2% – 2.5%).

Week-on-week, TV3’s viewership was down sharply and TV One’s also dropped in all the key demos while TV2’s improved across the board.

Wednesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • A18-49: TV One, 4.5 rating/16.3 share; TV2, 11.4 rating/41.3 share; TV3, 3.5 rating/12.7 share
  • A18-39: TV One, 3.6 rating/13.2 share; TV2, 11.8 rating/44.0 share; TV3, 3.9 rating/14.5 share
  • A25-54: TV One, 5.9 rating/19.6 share; TV2, 11.8 rating/39.2 share; TV3, 3.9 rating/12.9 share
  • HHS/k: TV One, 5.7 rating/17.8 share; TV2, 14.5 rating/45.0 share; TV3, 4.5 rating/13.9 share.

TV2 ruled last night. I had visitors in who sat down to MKR, Resurrection, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Supernatural before I could kick them out, lol
