HD Ratings: Skyscraper Towers Over Brokenwood

Three’s Sunday movie Skyscraper rated through the roof, clobbering The Brokenwood Mysteries and TVNZ 2’s movie The Mountain Between Us.

The previous week’s season-eight premiere of Brokenwood easily won its two-hour slot in the core commercial demographics, when it averaged 3.1% of 25-54 year-olds and 2.9% of 18-49s.

But episode two could muster only 1.9%/1.5% respectively of these demos against Skyscraper, which averaged 2.4%/1.5% on the back of a season high for Antonia Prebble’s reveal on The Masked Singer NZ (3.9%/2.9%).

Mountain averaged only 0.9% of each demo in the wake of a sub-par MasterChef Australia (2.2%/1.5%).

Otherwise, TVNZ 1 had another winning streak with The Chase, 1 News at 6pm, Hyundai Country Calendar and Sunday.

On the smaller HD channels, Prime’s season premiere of The Equalizer averaged 0.2% of the key demos, Eden’s Truth 0.0%, Duke’s Top Gear America 0.5%/0.3% and Whakaata Māori’s A Bump Along the Way 0.1%/0.0%.

Prime’s double-ep re-run of Game of Thrones averaged 0.2% of 25-54s post-9.30, which was surprisingly sturdy given the show’s extensive showcasing on Sky, Neon and disc.

TVNZ 1 won the night with huge 25-54 and 18-49 shares while roughly 10 points separated it from Three, which had a similar lead over TVNZ 2.

Three’s Building the Kiwi Dream is building a following, winning its slot on Saturday with 3.3% of 25-54s and 2.3% of 18-49s, which helped lead-outs Crikey! It’s the Irwins and the movie Friends With Kids to win with 25-54s.

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
