HD Ratings: Solid Launch for Aussie Celebrity
TVNZ 2’s Monday premiere of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! (Australia) won its slot in the key commercial demographics.
It averaged 3.2% of the 18-49 and 18-39 demos, and 5.6% of household shoppers with kids.
But in the 25-54 demo (3.4%), it was out-rated by a second episode of Three’s House Rules and seesawed with TVNZ 1’s Criminal Minds.
Its ratings vastly improved on 2’s movie the previous week, The Lake House, which averaged only 0.7% – 1.4% of these core viewers.
Celebrity’s launch was helped by lead-in Family Food Fight rating significantly higher week on week, with 4.9% of 25-54, 4.1% of 18-49, 4.4% of 18-39 and 6.0% of HHS/k.
But it still couldn’t beat House Rules, which pulled well ahead after losing the first quarter hour because of FFF’s lead-in from the top-rating show of the night, Shortland Street. (House Rules averaged 6.3% of 25-54 in its first hour and 5.1% in its second.)
SS comprehensively won all the core demos and had a 25-54 average of 11.1% compared to 4.6% for TVNZ 1’s The Extreme Cake Makers and 3.8% for Three’s The Project.
TVNZ 1’s The Celebrity Chase (4.3% of 25-54) helped Criminal Minds to average 3.2% of 25-54 over two hours. It finished behind TVNZ 2 and Three’s competition overall but rallied to win its last half-hour.
At 6.00, 1 News drew double the 25-54 viewership of Newshub Live but was a point behind it in the 18-39 demo.
As a result, the night was fiercely contested in the 25-54 race, with TVNZ 1 edging out TVNZ 2 for a 23.2% share (vs 23.1%) while Three averaged 20.5%. But 2 was comfortably ahead in the other key demos.
