HD Ratings: Step Dave Beats NCIS But LA Exacts Revenge

TV2’s Step Dave scored near-season high ratings on Tuesday but TV3’s NCIS remained competitive while its sister show overpowered Revenge.

Step Dave averaged 8.3% – 12.1% of the major demographics opposite NCIS’ 5.4% – 11.1%.

It crushed the crime drama in the 18-39 and 18-49 demos but the gap was much narrower among adults 25-54 and household shoppers with kids.

But NCIS: LA razed its competition, averaging 4.5% – 9.4% against Revenge’s 3.8% – 6.0% and Born to Kill’s 2.6% – 6.6%.

LA’s average was up sharply on the previous week’s 3.3% – 5.5% while Revenge was down in all the key demos.

The NCIS combo’s ratings were all the more remarkable given its relatively soft 7.30 lead-in.

Grand Designs averaged 4.6% – 7.4%, which was well ahead of TV One’s Surveillance Oz and Australia’s Deadliest in the age demos, but across the board trailed TV2’s Nabbed (9.8% – 15.5%) and Neighbours at War (9.2% – 15.3%).

Tuesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • Adults 18-49: TV One, 4.8 rating/17.6 share; TV2, 7.7 rating/28.0 share; TV3, 5.8 rating/21.2 share
  • Adults 18-39: TV One, 3.9 rating/15.2 share; TV2, 8.0 rating/31.0 share; TV3, 5.1 rating/19.8 share
  • Adults 25-54: TV One, 5.8 rating/18.8 share; TV2, 7.8 rating/25.3 share; TV3, 7.2 rating/23.2 share
  • HHS: TV One, 9.2 rating/25.0 share; TV2, 10.8 rating/29.3 share; TV3, 8.7 rating/23.7 share.

I think it’s time TV One returned Coro back to Tuesday nights.

  2. Couldn’t agree more but given its Friday ratings, it’s more likely to disappear altogether from primetime. A two-hour block on one of the week’s least-watched nights is too long. If you miss a couple of weeks, it suddenly becomes very easy even for Rovers diehards to get out of their habit. Serials need to be stripped, not screened in weekly blocks, to build momentum. Basic programming 101, really. Still, in Coro’s favour for its future is its on-demand popularity.

  3. Good to see the NCIS shows doing well 🙂
