HD Ratings: Step Dave Rules

My Kitchen Rules’ popularity earned Step Dave some of its highest ratings for the season on Tuesday.

The final episode averaged 8.9% – 12.4% of the major demographics and won the 8.30 hour across the board.

That was a big step up from the previous week, when its penultimate episode averaged only 4.6% – 7.4% and lost to TV3’s NCIS in every demo except 18-39.

This week’s NCIS averaged a competitive 6.2% – 8.8% to out-rate Britain’s Got Talent (5.5% – 6.6%) on the back of the first Grand Designs Australia series to air here in HD (4.5% – 5.2%).

Sister show NCIS: Los Angeles averaged 5.0% – 7.0% to largely win the 9.30 hour opposite Revenge (3.7% – 5.6%) and Hoarding: Buried Alive (3.0% – 3.9%).

At 7.30, MKR was all conquering, with 13.3% – 18.1% of the key demos, out-rating lead-in Shortland Street (12.6% – 17.9%) in every demo except 25-54.

MKR’s appeal blew out of the water TV One’s Women in Blue (4.5% – 6.5%) and Water Patrol (3.5% – 5.3%).

Tuesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • A18-49: TV One, 5.9 rating/18.9 share; TV2, 9.3 rating/29.8 share; TV3, 6.1 rating/19.6 share

Hope Step Dave gets a 2nd season, it’s a NZ show, we all should give it a go and support it. Good to see it got good ratings last night, but it’s the viewer, which really lets it down, except if the storyline is boring. But the writers are always learning from the public or from the critics and try to improve the faults. A lot of effort goes into producing and being a small nation, good on them, we should give every NZ shows a chance.

  2. Step Dave is a fantastic NZ series. We are all definitely wanting to see a second season and a third to carry on the story of Dave, Cara and the cast. Full support and backing this great kiwi show.

  3. There better be a second season. This show is a New Zealand gem. Absolute shame if it doesn’t get a second season.
