HD Ratings: Supersizing Double the Fun

Doubling up the season finale episodes of Super Fun Night helped TV2 to dominate Monday’s ratings and served lead-out Kitchen Nightmares its highest audience this season.

Since it’s been back on air, Gordon Ramsay’s show has fared badly with Brooklyn Nine-Nine as its lead-in.

But this week’s finale averaged 5.1% – 8.2% of the key demographics, winning with households shoppers with kids and proving competitive in the other demos against the second half of TV3’s Comedy Gala special.

The latter averaged 6.3% – 6.9% over two hours but the first hour was beaten by Super Fun Night, which rated 7.6% – 13.4% for its penultimate episode and 7.6% – 10.9% for the finale.

Super Fun Night was helped by Shortland Street averaging 12.0% – 18.9% against improving current affairs half-hours on TV One and TV3, The Middle pulling an almost-as-good 11.3% – 17.4% and Trophy Wife landing a similarly impressive 11.1% – 16.8%.

Moreover, the sitcoms were up against MasterChef NZ’s 7.6% – 11.2%, leaving TV3’s Road Cops (6.5% – 8.0%) and Kings Cross ER (5.9% – 6.4%) to finish third.

TV One’s Person of Interest (3.7% – 6.8%) was squeezed by the tougher competition at 8.30 while lead-0ut The Following maintained its loyal but lacklustre following of 1.6% – 2.9%.

Week on week, TV2 was the big winner, recovering the ground it lost on Easter Monday and comfortably winning each of the key demos.

Monday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • Adults 18-49: TV One, 6.4 rating/19.9 share; TV2, 8.9 rating/27.7 share; TV3, 7.3 rating/22.8 share
