HD Ratings: The Block Beats the Chasers
TVNZ 1’s usually unbeatable Beat the Chasers was beaten by the competition on both TVNZ 2 and Three on Wednesday.
The season premiere of the Bradley Walsh game show averaged 2.2% of the network’s target 25-54 viewership and 1.6% of 18-49s.
Three’s The BlockNZ: Redemption won the 25-54 demographic (3.1%) and TVNZ 2’s MasterCef Australia the 18-49 demo (2.5%).
Chasers’ lacklustre debut was hampered by a rare loss for Seven Sharp at 7.00, when Three’s The Project out-rated it in both key commercial demos.
The flow-on effect extended beyond Chasers to the series premiere of George Clarke’s Flipping Fast.
It averaged 2.0% of 25-54s and 1.4% of 18-49s, topping TVNZ 2’s Taskmaster NZ (1.5%/1.2%) but losing to Three’s David Lomas Investigates in the 25-54 demo (2.4%) and barely edging ahead of it in the 18-49 race (1.3%).
Lomas was down sharply on the previous week’s season premiere, when it averaged 4.5%/2.9%.
At 9.30, Bravo’s 911: Crisis Centre again edged out the bigger network competition to win in both core demos.
On Tuesday, Eat Well for Less? NZ won the 7.30 hour in the key demos while Three’s NCIS duo was tops with 25-54s; TVNZ 2’s NCIS: Hawai’i won with 18-49s.
On Monday, Three dominated post-7.30 25-54 viewing with The Block NZ, 9-1-1 and 9-1-1 Lone Star but MasterChef whipped up more 18-49 viewers.
Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
