HD Ratings: The Block Doubles Down
Airing two episodes of The Block NZ: Redemption back to back on Tuesday, after Monday’s ep was pre-empted by the Queen’s funeral, proved a ratings boon for Three.
The 7.30 broadcast won its slot in the core commercial demographics, averaging 4.2% of 25-54 year-olds and 3.1% of 18-49.
The 8.30 broadcast maintained its 25-54 dominance but split the 18-49 viewership with TVNZ 1’s Documentary NZ: Swipe With Caution (2.7% of 25-54, 2.0% of 18-49).
Over the two hours, The Block averaged 3.5%/2.4%.
TVNZ 1’s Eat Well for Less? at 7.30 averaged 3.3%/2.7% and TVNZ 2’s Celebrity Treasure Island 2.4%/2.2%.
TVNZ 2’s 8.30 drama NCIS: Hawai’i averaged 1.8%/1.2% and lead-out Australian Survivor 0.6%/0.3%.
Both the latter and Three’s Aussie Gold Hunters (0.8%/0.7%) lost to TVNZ 1’s Coronation Street (1.2%/1.0%).
Earlier, TVNZ 1 had a clear run with The Chase, 1 News at 6pm and Seven Sharp all winning their slots.
Eden’s Newshub Live at 8pm averaged 0.4%/0.2% ahead of Undercover Billionaire’s 0.1%/0.0% while Prime’s The Gilded Age drew 0.5%/0.3% vs 0.7%/0.9% for Duke’s repeat of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
TVNZ 1 won the night with 31+ shares of the key demos while Three was runner-up with 23.7% of 25-54s and 21.5% of 18-49s.
Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
