HD Ratings: Three’s Wednesday Wipeout

Three’s beach-themed Wednesday night schedule is leaving the competition in its wake.

The network dominated from 7.30-11.00 with Bay Patrol, Bondi Rescue, The Rookie, Hawaii Five-O and Newshub Late in the core commercial demographics of 25-54 and 18-49.

Bay Patrol bounced back from last week’s time-slot loss to Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad to average an unbeatable 4.5% of 25-54s and 4.1% of 18-49s.

For the first time, it out-rated lead-out Bondi Rescue in the 18-49 demo (3.7%) and tied in the 25-54 viewership.

The Rookie averaged 3.5% of 25-54s / 2.6% of 18-49s, H5O 1.6% / 1.0% and Newshub Late, 1.2% / 0.8%.

TVNZ 1’s Breaking Dad was down sharply on last week, averaging only 3.4% of 25-54s and 2.1% of 18-49s.

Lead-outs The Million Pound Cube averaged 2.6% / 1.7%, Secrets of the Driving Test, 2.0% / 1.0% and Coronation Street 1.2% / 0.7%.

Once again, TVNZ 2’s line-up was the lowest-rating in the key demos.

Popstars averaged 2.1% of 25-54s and 2.2% of 18-49s, Patriot Brains 1.8% / 1.6%, and Starstruck 1.5% / 1.1%.

Popstars’ 25-54 average dipped week-on-week but its 18-49 viewership improved from 1.6% while Starstuck recovered hugely from its 0.6% premiere average in both demos.

Despite Three’s night-long wins, the popularity of TVNZ 1’s The Chase, 1 News at 6pm and Seven Sharp helped the network to narrowly win the night’s biggest shares of 25-54s (25.7% vs Three’s 24.1%).

But Three pipped it for the 18-49 vote: 24.6% vs 23.3%.
