HD Ratings: Top Cops Rock
Three’s law-and-order line-up on Monday won the overnight ratings in the core commercial demographic.
An unbeatable lead-in from The Block NZ: Redemption, which averaged 4.3% of 25-54 year-olds and 3.1% of 18-49s, set up The Rookie and Special Victims Unit to respectively win the 8.30 and 9.30 hours.
The former averaged 2.6%/1.7% of the 25-54 and 18-49 demos and the latter 1.9%/1.4%.
TVNZ 2’s Celebrity Treasure Island at 7.30 averaged 3.4%/2.7% to narrowly beat TVNZ 1’s Fair Go in the 18-49 demo but trailed it by 1.4 points in the 25-54 demo.
However, it out-rated Fair Go stablemate The Check Up in both demos.
TVNZ 2’s Renters and the opening half-hour of Australian Survivor were competitive with TVNZ 1’s My Life is Murder (2.7%/1.5%) but the rest of Survivor was no match for TVNZ 1’s 20/20 (1.7%/1.2%).
TVNZ 1 owned the evening, with The Chase, 1 News at 6pm and Seven Sharp dwarfing the 25-54 competition, although the gap wasn’t as wide with Three’s Newshub Live and The Project in the 18-49 demo.
Prime’s 7.30 special Inside Buckingham Palace averaged 0.7% of each key demo while Whakaata Māori’s Meng documentary averaged 0.2%/0.0%.
TVNZ 1 won the night’s lions share of 25-54s (30.8%) but Three was close behind (27.2%) and the same was true in the 18-49 race (28.2% vs 26.2%). TVNZ 2 averaged 13.2%/13.8%.
Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.

Only 12 months’ delay for The Rookie, so much for Discovery adding value to NZ television …
And still no return to surround sound :/
