HD Ratings: Topp Night for TV1
TV1 topped all the commercial demographics on Sunday thanks to its unassailable line-up of One News, Sunday and Topp Country.
Each programme resoundingly won its slot across the board and helped episode two of the Rebecca Gibney drama, Winter, to average 3.4% – 6.5% of the key demos.
It won the hour with TV1’s 25-54 audience and was competitive in the 18-49 stakes against TV2’s re-run of The Tuxedo (4.3% – 5.2%).
The Jackie Chan relic seesawed with TV3’s repeat of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which averaged 3.6% – 5.9% off the back of MasterChef NZ (4.5% – 8.0%).
The cooking contest dished up some of its highest ratings this year, despite formidable competition from Sunday (6.6% – 11.0%), which helped lead-out Topp Country to average 6.6% – 9.6%.
TV1 rounded off primetime with Ordinary Lies (0.8% – 3.9%) and scored a rare win in all the key demos for the night:
But TV2 dominated on Saturday with its movies and on Friday with The Voice Australia (4.5% – 7.4%).
However, TV3 Graham Norton Show was competitive in the 25-54 demo while TV1’s Coronation Street averaged an extraordinarily high 2.6% – 5.0% and won its second hour in three of three of the four key measures against weak competition (repeats of The Big Bang Theory and Live at the Apollo).
TV1’s Restoration Man rated through the roof on Thursday (4.1% – 9.8%), which was no mean feat given the popularity of TV2’s Police Ten 7 and Highway Patrol.
But the network’s viewership tailed off with House Husbands (2.3% – 6.0%) and the season premier of Alan Carr Chatty Man (1.8% – 4.3%).
While they out-rated TV3’s re-run of She’s Out of My League (2.2% – 4.2%), except in the 18-39 demo, they didn’t challenge TV2’s Neighbours at War (8.4% – 10.4%) and Bogans (6.3% – 8.0%).
Embarrassingly for TV3, its movie was out-rated by Four’s repeat of Next (2.0% – 5.9%) in three of the core demos.
TV3’s X Factor UK (2.3% – 5.3%) finished third in its slot.
