HD Ratings: Trump Triumphs for TVNZ 1
TVNZ 1’s The Trump Show, which continues tonight, reversed the network’s fortunes last week by winning the 8.30 hour in the 25-54 demographic.
It averaged 5.2% of the channel’s target audience versus 4.9% for Three’s Westside and 1.9% for TVNZ 2’s The Farmer Wants a Wife.
For the past few weeks, TVNZ 1 has been losing the 8.30 Monday hour due to the weakness of its own programming and the strength of Three’s.
The Trump Show also was competitive in the 18-49 demo, coming up four-tenths of a rating point short of Westside.
The gap was slightly wider among household shoppers with kids and with 18-39s it trailed by 1.4 points.
Across all the key demos, Wife finished well behind and even was narrowly beaten by Prime’s Red Stag Hunters Club in the 18-39 stakes.
Earlier, TVNZ 1 won the 7.30 hour in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos with warhorse Fair Go and a resurgent Kids: An Instruction Manual With Nigel Latta against the premiere of TVNZ 2’s Dog Almighty.
But the latter easily was top dog among HHS/k and 18-39s while Three’s Grand Designs NZ finished third at 7.30 in all the major demos except 25-54.
New HBO Max series Love Life is struggling on the back of Wife, with last week’s episode averaging only 0.2% – 1.8% of the prime demos against TVNZ 1’s time slot-winning Criminal Minds and Three’s Magnum PI.
TVNZ 1 topped the night with commanding shares of all the key demos, except HHS/k, which TVNZ 2 narrowly won.
Here are Monday’s 20 most-watched primetime programmes on the free-to-air HD channels (excluding +1 and in order of their 5+ rating and audience share):
