HD Ratings: TV1 Crime Dramas on Death Row?
TV1’s Aquarius has been renewed for a second season but it’s not likely to return here in primetime.
The first season is struggling 9.30 Tuesdays, where episode three failed to rate above 2.6% of the channel’s target audience, 25-54 year-olds.
It averaged 1.3% – 2.2% of the other commercial demographics off the back of another death-row crime drama, The Mentalist (1.9% – 4.7%).
The latter’s lacklustre appeal isn’t surprising given it’s the seventh and (overdue) final season, has already played on-demand and is up against TV2’s Empire (6.4% – 10.3%).
But TV3’s NCIS (4.3% – 6.0%) was competitive with the music drama in the 25-54 demo while lead-out NCIS: Los Angeles averaged 2.1% – 3.6% against Grey’s Anatomy’s 3.3% – 4.7%.
TV2 dominated earlier in the night with Shortland Street (11.6% – 21.0%) and My Kitchen Rules (10.7% – 17.3%).
Consequently, the network crushed the competition all night long, losing only to TV1 in the 25-54 demo:
