HD Ratings: TV2 Flexes Movie Muscle
The network premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man spun amazing ratings for TV2’s Friday blockbuster slot.
It averaged 7.5% – 12.3% of the major demographics and was most watched from 7.30-8.30.
But TV3 clawed back some of these viewers with The Graham Norton Show (6.8% – 9.5%) and won the 9.30 hour with its Kiwi comedies.
Despite Spider-Man’s popularity, TV3’s The Simpsons also got a boost, racking up a season high of 4.8% – 7.1%.
But its lead-out, How I Met Your Mother, couldn’t capitalise on this, and averaged only 3.6% – 4.0%.
Double-billing CSI: NY on Saturday lifted the TV3 procedural’s popularity, with the first hour averaging 3.8% – 7.2% and the second hour, 3.2% – 5.7%.
The strategy crushed TV One’s re-run of Endeavour (0.5% – 2.2%) and was competitive with TV2’s movie premieres Dolphin Tale (4.2% – 9.3%) and Macgruber (3.2% – 5.5%) among adults 18-49 and 25-54.
Hyundai Country Calendar had one of its strongest weeks this season (5.1% – 8.9%) while lead-out MasterChef MasterClass averaged 3.3% – 4.9% opposite Ice Road Truckers’ 3.1% – 4.5%.
On Sunday, TV2’s Agents of SHIELD (6.0% – 10.2%) and The Tomorrow People (3.7% – 5.6%) won their slots.
TV3’s The Blacklist averaged 4.8% – 5.8% to largely beat TV One’s Offspring (3.7% – 5.9%) while at 9.30 Rake (1.6% – 3.0%) fought it out for second place with Hawaii Five-O (1.9% – 2.4%).
Earlier, neither MasterChef NZ (5.8% – 9.2%) nor The Great Food Race (3.9% – 4.3%) could match TV2’s SD re-run of The Incredibles (8.6% – 14.4%), topping off a superheroic weekend for the network.
