HD Ratings: TV2 Still Rules Without Kitchen
A suite of series and season premieres on Monday couldn’t stop TV3’s re-run of What Happens in Vegas from coming up trumps in all the key demographics.
It averaged 6.4% – 8.2% of viewers in the audience groups that matter most to the networks to win the 8.30-10.30 zone outright except in the 5+ demo.
But TV2 still dominated the night, posting the night’s highest ratings and shares in the key demos.
While the network was much weaker without My Kitchen Rules, the season premiere of Cougar Town averaged a time slot-winning 12.2% – 13.8% of the key demos off the back of Shortland Street’s massive 19.2% – 23.5%.
But Wentworth’s season premiere, in an earlier slot, averaged only 5.5% – 8.8%, which saw lead-out Grey’s Anatomy slip to 2.5% – 5.6%, its lowest viewership in weeks.
It was up against not only Vegas but also the return of TV One’s Castle (1.4% – 4.6%), which out-rated the hospital drama in the 25-54 demo.
TV One’s Criminal Minds (3.3% – 8.1%) also beat Wentworth among adults 25-54 but lost to it in the other key demos.
The network’s premiere of Purina Pound Pups to Dog Stars also got off to a “paw” start, averaging only 3.0% – 6.2% — but still out-rated the first half of TV3’s X Factor Australia (4.2% – 5.7%), which tanked in its first Monday broadcast.
Monday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:
- A18-49: TV One, 5.6 rating/18.7 share; TV2, 9.4 rating/31.6 share; TV3, 6.0 rating/20.0 share
- A18-39: TV One, 4.2 rating/15.1 share; TV2, 9.2 rating/32.6 share; TV3, 6.1 rating/21.6 share
- A25-54: TV One, 7.9 rating/23.3 share; TV2, 9.8 rating/28.9 share; TV3, 6.3 rating/18.6 share
