HD Ratings: TV3 Big Gun Blasts Rivals
Monday’s network premiere of Battleship on TV3 blew the competition out of the water.
The blockbuster averaged 5.4% – 8.4% of the major demographics, which was modest compared to how it would have rated on TV2.
But it easily won its slot, drawing far more viewers than TV One’s Person of Interest (3.3% – 7.7%) and The Following (1.8% – 2.5%), and TV2’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine (3.0% – 5.1%) and Kitchen Nightmares (3.1% – 4.0%).
Ratings were lower than usual for a Monday because it was the end of a long weekend, with even signature hits like Shortland Street (12.8% – 17.3%) and The Middle (7.9% – 12.1%) sub-par — although they were still well ahead of the competition.
Trophy Wife (6.9% – 10.1%) won with adults 18-39 but was overshadowed by TV One’s MasterChef NZ (7.7% – 12.3%) in the other key demos.
TV3’s Road Cops averaged 4.0% – 5.3% and Kings Cross ER 4.4% – 5.7%.
Overall, week-on-week TV2 suffered heavy losses and TV3 made the biggest gains, winning the night in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos.
Monday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:
- Adults 18-49: TV One, 5.8 rating/19.5 share; TV2, 6.6 rating/22.4 share; TV3, 6.7 rating/22.6 share
