HD Ratings: TVNZ 1 Tops a Hot Tuesday
TVNZ 1 won all of the core commercial demographics on Tuesday night as key TVNZ 2 and Three series struggled.
The older-skewing network was unassailable in the 25-54 and 18-49 demos, from 5pm-midnight.
Its 7.30 anchor, Paramedics, averaged 6.8% of 25-54s and 5.6% of 18-49s, and was competitive with Three’s Married at First Sight NZ in the other major demos.
MAFS out-rated TVNZ 2’s My Restaurant Rules on its second night, averaging 3.3% – 8.0% of the key demos; MRR averaged 2.3% – 4.5%.
TVNZ 1’s repeat of When the Gypsies Come to Town (2.9% – 5.8%) won the 8.30 hour opposite TVNZ 2’s Seven Year Switch (2.7% – 4.4%) and Three’s 9-1-1 (1.5% – 4.8%).
Three’s emergency service drama finished third except among household shoppers with kids.
The network’s interruption of the series mid-season and belated resumption of it on a different night appears to have done it no favours — especially when you can already stream all of S2 on Lightbox.
TVNZ 1 also benefitted from a 9.30 Rugby World Cup highlights package (1.1% – 3.0%), which scored with every key demo except 18-39 (who opted for TVNZ 2’s The Single Wives).
Three’s NCIS: Los Angeles largely finished second for the hour.
TVNZ 1’s dominance even extended to Seven Sharp beating TVNZ 2’s Shortland Street in the 25-54 demo (6.6% vs 6.3%) and the two splitting the 18-49 audience (5.0%).
Meanwhile, Prime’s Poldark has lost its lustre, with Tuesday’s episode averaging only 0.5% of 25-54s whereas Duke’s movie, The Town, averaged 1.4%.
