HD Ratings: Undateables Untouchable

The Undatebables was unbeatable when it returned on Thursday to win the 8.30 hour in all the commercial demographics.

It averaged 6.8% – 8.5% of viewers aged 18-39, 18-49, 25-54 and household shoppers with kids.

TV1’s House Husbands averaged a season low 0.8% – 2.0% off the back of Restoration Man’s 2.6% – 7.5% while TV3’s two-hour edition of X Factor UK averaged 3.6% – 4.0%.

The Undateables’ popularity helped the season premiere of Arrow (3.5% – 4.3%) to win the 9.30 hours in the 18-39 and 18-49 demos but TV1’s Alan Carr Chatty Man (1.9% – 3.3%) topped it in the other key demos.

TV3’s 9.30 re-run of Murder in Enchanted Hills averaged 2.2% – 3.1%.

Meanwhile, it’s not only TV3’s Story that’s losing viewers to Seven Sharp: in the 25-54 demo, it trailed Thursday’s Shortland Street (8.6% – 11.8%) by only 1.3 points.

But the serial still commanding won its slot with 31%-plus channel shares, which helped lead-outs Police Ten 7 and Highway Patrol to dominate the 7.30 hour in all the key demos except HHS/k and led to TV2 winning the night outright:

Wednesday was more tightly contested, when the return of The Middle (4.5% – 10.6%) and Black-Ish (3.1% – 6.6%) seesawed with TV1’s Fair Go (5.0% – 9.9%)/Rachel Hunter’s Tour of Beauty (3.5% – 7.6%) and TV3’s The Block NZ: Villa Wars (5.4% – 6.8%).

But it was TV1’s duo that won in the most important demos: 18-49 and 25-54.

However, at 8.30 TV2’s The Big Bang Theory (6.2% – 8.7%) and Mom (4.3% – 6.3%) swept all the key demos, which set up the season premiere of The Flash (2.6% – 4.7%) to win the 18-39 and HHS/k race — but lose to TV1’s The Island With Bear Grylls (2.7% – 4.2%) in the others.

TV3’s X Factor UK averaged a competitive 2.9% – 4.2% over two hours.

TV2 won the night in three of the key demos while TV1 was well ahead in the demo that matters most to the network, 25-54:

How people can watch this junk is beyond me. Guess it shows the sad state of FTA TV.
