HD Ratings: Upstart Tops Original
TVNZ 2’s NCIS: Hawai’i out-rated parent show NCIS on Tuesday and even topped TVNZ 1’s First Responders in the 18-49 demographic.
The procedural spin-off averaged 2.5% of 25-54 year-olds (vs 1.8% for Three’s NCIS and 2.6% for Responders), and 2.2% of 18-49s (vs 1.5% for NCIS and 2.1% for Responders).
It was helped by having the strongest of the night’s competitive 7.30 lead-ins, Lego Masters NZ, which averaged 3.5%/3.1% of the core commercial demos.
TVNZ 1’s The Casketeers averaged 3.4%/2.2% (and its lead-out Lap of Luxury 2.3%/1.6%) while Three’s MasterChef NZ drew 3.6%/2.4%.
At 9.30, the splitting of the procedural viewership helped TVNZ 1 Coronation Street to win the hour (1.6%/1.3%) against TVNZ 2’s FBI International (1.3%/1.1%) and Three’s NCIS: Los Angeles (1.1%/1.0%).
Prime’s premium drama slot continued to struggle, with And Just Like That … averaging 0.2%/0.1% and Succession 0.0% of each key demo, while Duke’s movie Looper averaged 0.4%/0.3%.
TVNZ 1’s evening dominance helped it to win the night with commanding 25-54 and 18-49 shares; Three was second among 25-54s and TVNZ 2 had four-tenths of a lead in the 18-49 race.
Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.

Looks like TVNZ 2 is winning the battle with the Hawaii edition than the tired original currently screening on Three, with kiwi Alex Tarrant starring make it a bigger ratings hit here than New Orleans did on Prime.
