HD Ratings: US Troupers Punish Kiwi Dramas

Flagship Kiwi dramas on TVNZ were crippled Tuesday by the popularity of perennial procedurals NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles.

TV One’s well reviewed Anzac week telefeature, Field Punishment No. 1 (above), averaged only 3.4% – 6.7% of the key demographics over two hours compared to 5.6% – 12.8% for TV3’s NCIS and 4.6% – 9.5% for its sister show.

That was despite its stronger lead-in from the premieres of Women in Blue (6.9% – 11.2%) and Water Patrol (7.0% – 11.7%).

The reality double-bill largely won the 7.30 hour, except among adults 18-39, who opted for TV2’s premiere of Don’t Trust Andrew Mayne (9.0% – 11.4%).

TV2’s Step Dave also was stomped on by TV3’s franchise dramas, with the Kiwi comedy averaging a season low of only 4.8% – 5.4%.

Even lead-out Revenge (4.4% – 6.8%) out-rated it among household shoppers with kids.

Earlier in the night, Shortland Street averaged 14.8% – 17.3% and Campbell Live scored a rare win over Seven Sharp.

Tuesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • Adults 18-49: TV One, 5.8 rating/20.5 share; TV2, 7.1 rating/25.1 share; TV3, 6.4 rating/22.7 share
