HD Ratings: Viewers Go Overboard for Abandoned
The Rose Noelle dramatisation, Abandoned, was the first in this season of NZ Sunday Theatre dramas to win its slot outright in the commercial demographics.
It averaged 5.0% – 7.4% of the viewers that matter most to the networks, beating both TV2’s Bad Teacher (3.6% – 4.5%) and TV3’s Fast Five (4.7% – 6.6%).
Abandoned’s win capped a strong night for TV1, with One News, Sunday and Topp Country largely winning their slots.
TV3’s MasterChef NZ averaged 3.7% – 5.0% to mostly trail TV2’s Repeat After Me (4.7% – 7.7%) and I Can Do That (4.7% – 8.6%).
As a result, TV1 notched up a rare win across the board on a night TV2 typically dominates:
TV1 was also triumphant on Saturday, with Hyundai Country Calendar, Outback Truckers and even Coronation Street winning in three of the four key demos while TV3’s crime-time line-up was hammered.
On Friday, TV2’s The Voice Australia (5.6% – 8.4%) was tops in the 18-39 demo but in the others seesawed with Jono and Ben (5.6% – 6.4%) and lost to one of Graham Norton’s funniest hours (5.2% – 7.5%).
