HD Ratings: Viewers Not Over Hangover

Sunday’s exclusive interview with Bevan Chuang helped to cement TV One’s supremacy for the first half of Sunday night as the top-rating lead-in to NZ’s Got Talent.

But it was TV2’s HD re-run of The Hangover that was the toast of the night, averaging 10.5% – 12.6% of the major demographics (adults 18-39, 18-49, 25-54 and household shoppers).

Sunday won the 7.00-7.30 slot with 6.8% – 11.8% and Talent built on this with 7.5% – 14.6%.

The combined TVNZ assault stopped TV3’s HD re-run of The Mummy Returns from rating as strongly as the original the previous week.

It averaged 5.0% – 7.6% and its lead-out, the network premiere of Your Highness, only 2.0% – 3.7%.

TV One’s A Place to Call Home remains a bona fide hit for the network, averaging 8.1% of its target audience, adults 25-54, and 9.6% of HHS.

Sky live rugby coverage (and Prime’s delayed) coverage again dented the appeal of drawcards on the bigger networks’ schedules.

TV3 had a rough night, with Testing the Menu averaging only 1.5% – 2.0%, which was less than the 2.2% – 3.3% that The ITM Fishing Show scored at 5.30.

Survivor wasn’t much better – 2.0% – 2.9% — and Blue Bloods continued its slump with only 0.9% – 2.0%.

TV2’s HD network premier of Unknown was popular only with HHS (6.9%), averaging only 3.2% – 4.2% of the other key demos against TV One’s Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries (2.1% – 4.7%) and the 007 movie, A View to a Kill (1.3% – 4.1%).

Earlier in the night, NZ Story averaged 2.5% – 4.5% against Duck Dynasty’s 3.0% – 5.5% and This Town 2.8% – 4.5%.

TV3 dominated Friday, with The Graham Norton Show (6.1% – 10.5%) and its Kiwi comedies winning from 8.30-10.30, although for the first time this season The X Factor USA (4.8% – 8.4%) largely lost to TV2’s sitcoms.

TV One’s George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces was the biggest casualty of Norton, averaging only 1.4% – 3.8% after a strong premiere the previous week.

X Factor performed better on Thursday, when the two-hour edition averaged 8.1% – 9.7% and helped Project Runway: All Stars to score its highest ratings yet: 4.7% – 7.8%.

TV One’s Packed to the Rafters averaged 3.2% – 6.6% and TV2’s Mistresses, 4.5% – 5.3% on the back of Street Hospital’s 9.0% – 9.8%.
