A hit show’s importance as a building block on a TV network’s schedule is vividly demonstrated by TV3’s The Block NZ: Villa Wars.
Tuesday’s episode not only won the 7.30 hour in three of the four core commercial demographics (8.1%- 9.3%) but also helped to deliver enough viewers for The Blacklist and SVU to largely win their slots.
The Blacklist averaged 3.9% – 5.5% and out-rated TV2’s Step Dave (4.3% – 7.3%) and TV1’s The Player (2.0% – 5.7%) in every major demo except household shoppers with kids.
SVU (2.2% – 3.9%) was tops with viewers aged 18-49 and 25-54 but lost to TV2’s Empire (2.4% – 3.5%) in the 18-39 stakes and to TV1’s The Women of Pike River (1.9% – 4.6%) in the HHS/k demo.
Earlier, off the back of Shortland Street’s 9.3% – 15.3%, TV2’s My Kitchen Rules NZ averaged 5.6% – 6.5% of the key demos and finished third at 7.30 except among 18-39s.
