HD Ratings: Warhorses Beat Unicorn

Not even the supersized final of The Masked Singer NZ on Sunday could challenge the supremacy of TVNZ 1’s Hyundai Country Calendar and Sunday.

The 90-minute special averaged an impressive 4.5% of 25-54 year-olds and 3.7% of 18-49s.

But HCC countered with 6.7%/5.1% and Sunday 5.0%/3.7%.

Only among 18-49s did Singer rival Sunday, when the final half-hour out-rated the current affairs show’s second half (in the 25-54 demo, Singer’s last quarter-hour was triumphant).

Thereafter TVNZ 2’s movie, Thor: Ragnarok, dominated (3.5%/2.7%), despite a poor lead-in from Young Sheldon (0.9%/0.8%).

Three’s Spider-Man: Far From Home spun amazingly low averages (1.0%/0.7%) to finish third, behind TVNZ 1’s George Clarke’s Amazing Space (2.5%/2.0%) and Four Lives (1.0%/0.9%).

Prime’s The Equalizer averaged 0.5%/0.3% against Eden’s movie All the Money in the World (0.1%/0.0%), Whakaata Māori’s Misbehaviour (0.1%/0.0%), and Duke’s South Seas Spearo (0.4% of each) and Wild Kai Legends (0.1%).

TVNZ 1 commanded 28+ peak demo shares for the night while Three clocked up 18+ and TVNZ 2 15+.

Note: These overnight ratings exclude viewership of the networks’ +1 SD channels.
