TV One will run a season of NZ-made HD telefeatures in its Sunday Theatre slot from August 14.

It opens with a dramatisation of the 1951 Tangiwai railway disaster and is part of an HD rev-up on the channel.

It starts with next week’s premieres of Global Radar (7pm Sunday), in which Te Radar investigates sustainability around the world; and Unzipped (9.45pm Friday), which follows four Kiwi fashion houses on to the catwalk.

New HD series starting on TV3 in the third week of August include:

  • Under the Grill (8pm Tuesday), in which Australian chef Sean Connolly has 100 days in which to open an award-winning and profitable restaurant in Auckland;
  • the postponed Underbelly NZ: Land of the Long Green Cloud (9.30pm Wednesday); and,
  • Poking the Borax (11.15pm Friday), in which UK comedian Jocelyn Jee Eisen plays three characters touring NZ.

TV3’s HD movies for that week include Thank You For Smoking (11.20pm Saturday) and Iron Man (8.30pm Monday).

Of interest on TV2 will be:

  • Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks guest starring opposite her husband, Geoffrey Arend, in Body of Proof (TV2, 9.30pm Monday);
  • Pua Musgrave returning to Shortland Street, as Vinnie Kruse, for the first time in six years (TV2, 7pm Tuesday);
