HDTV Heads-Up: August 4-10

TV One will premiere series two of Episodes a week after the first ends.

It will go to air in the same slot on August 2, and is set four months after the series one finale — on the eve of Pucks! having its premiere.

“I was totally prepared to hate the first episode of the second series of Episodes,” said The Guardian’s Sam Wollaston, who panned the first series.

“The good news is … I didn’t. I actually liked it, rather a lot. In spite of itself.”

Screening the same night in HD is the Inside NZ documentary, Nazi Hunter (TV3, 9.30), which investigates if the 47 “displaced persons” who landed in NZ after World War II had sinister connections.

The only other HD newcomer of note is CSI: New York, which TV3 will resume from midway through season six in CSI’s 8.30 Saturday slot (the spin-off starts its eighth season on US TV in September).

HD movie repeats for the week starting August 4 include Sunshine on Saturday (TV3, 10.25), Sunday’s Nights in the Garden of Spain (TV One, 8.30) and I Love You, Man (TV3, 8.30), and Monday’s Star Trek (TV3, 8.30).
