HDTV Heads-Up II: This Is Not My Life

Can veteran TV scribe Rachel Lang (Outrageous Fortune) pull off the hat trick of having a high-flying drama series on each of the country’s free-to-air networks?

That will be answered after her new creation, This Is Not My Life, goes to air on TV One on July 29.

The serialised HD mystery, starring Outrageous Fortune’s Charles Mesure as a family man who wakes up one morning with no idea of who he is, originally was commissioned for TV2.

But with that top-rating network already going gangbusters with Go Girls, which Lang created with her Life collaborator, Gavin Strawhan, it was decided TV One should have its own flagship Kiwi drama.

“TVNZ wants a hit local drama on both our channels,” programming chief Jane Wilson says. “We already have a hit on TV2 with Go Girls and we believe that This Is Not My Life is a thoughtful, well produced, well written drama which will have broad appeal.”

The series also stars Seven Periods With Mr Gormsby‘s Tandi Wright and Go Girls’ Tania Nolan.

Meanwhile, the HD series that this time last year was about to tank on TV2, The Cult, next month will be released on DVD but not Blu-ray.
