HDTV Heads-Up: January 28-February 3

Monsters vs Aliens and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian will have their free-to-air HD premieres on TV3 in the last week of January.

It’s also the week in which TV3 and TV2 will clear the decks for a raft of new-season programmes.

Expect TV3’s February highlights to include Homeland, Terra Nova, Bones, Modern Family, CSI, The Big C, The Almighty Johnsons and Sons of Anarchy, preceded by a mega-HD blockbuster to kick off the month.

Next month Go Girls will help to kick TV2 2012 into top gear, along with Desperate Housewives, The Walking Dead, Two and a Half Men, Cougar Town and The Big Bang Theory.

In the meantime, Big Bang fans can see a “marathon” special on February 1 that comprises the last four episodes of season four, as a curtain-raiser to the fifth.

The same night TV3 will screen in HD the Underbelly telemovie, Infiltration.

3’s other HD movies that week include Deception (Saturday, 5.1), Monsters vs Aliens and Meet Dave (Sunday, 5.1), The Transporter (Monday, 5.1), and Night at the Museum 2 (Tuesday).

That week TV2 also will air the season finales of Shameless and Chuck.
