HDTV Heads-Up: July 14-21
TV2 is poised to launch a raft of new and returning shows in HD.
There will be 10 season finales in the week starting July 14, four with a wedding theme: Mike & Molly (7.30 Sunday), Desperate Housewives (8.30 Monday), The Middle (7.30 Tuesday) and Happy Weddings (9.00 Wednesday).
Also signing off will be the winter season of Shortland Street (7.00 Monday), Neighbours at War (8.00 Monday), Suburgatory (8.00 Tuesday), GCB (9.30 Tuesday), Two and a Half Men (7.30 Wednesday) and 2 Broke Girls (8.00 Wednesday).
Expect these shows to bow out for new seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Body of Proof, Cougar Town, Hot in Cleveland and The Amazing Race Australia, along with newcomers like Dallas, Are You There Chelsea? and Betty White’s Off Their Rockers.
Resuming on TV3 from July 14 will be CSI: Miami.
Its final season will air 9.30 Saturdays after CSI while returning for a Sunday late-night re-run is Homeland – which hopefully signals TV3 plans to launch season two soon after its US debut on September 30.
Notable guest appearances that week include soul musician James Ingram on Suburgatory, comedian Patton Oswalt on Two and a Half Men, Martha Stewart on 2 Broke Girls and Desperate Housewives’ Brian Austin Green on Happy Endings.
The week’s only network HD movie premiere is Get Him to the Greek on Sunday (TV3, 8.30).
