HDTV Heads-Up: June 9-15

The networks’ HD cup will runneth over on June 10, when TV3’s network HD premiere of Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones airs opposite TV2’s re-run of Twilight and TV One’s launch of another Audi NZ Sunday Theatre season.

Jackson’s dramatisation of the Alice Sebold novel about a murdered 14-year-old who watches over her family stars Hanna’s Saoirse Ronan, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci.

TV One’s four-week local drama showcase will open with Safe House, which dramatises one woman’s experiences on NZ’s witness protection programme during the 1980s.

It stars Billy’s Morgana O’Reilly, This Is Not My Life’s Erroll Shand and Peter Elliott.

The week starting June 9 also is notable for:

The return of Hawaii Five-0, in the Tuesday slot vacated by NCIS: Los Angeles (TV3, 9.30); it will be preceded by a late-night repeat of the season-one finale the night before.

Sunday’s premiere of the self-explanatory Surviving Teen Driving With Nigel Latta (TV One, 7.00).

Monday’s HD repeat of the movie Eagle Eye (TV3, 8.30).

Thursday’s series finale of The Finder (TV3, 8.30).

Whoopi Goldberg and Thomas Calabro guest starring on Friday’s Glee (TV3, 7.30).

Mad Men’s Jon Hamm joining Charlize Theron and Steve Coogan on the couch for Friday’s The Graham Norton Show (TV3, 8.30).
