HDTV Ratings: April 13-15
Sunday’s season premiere of The Food Truck won its time slot with TV One’s target audience, 25-54 year-olds, and was competitive in other demographics.
It averaged 10.8% of the 25-54 demo compared to HD rival The Big Bang Theory’s 9.9% and Would I Lie to You’s? 5.6%.
Moreover, in the other demos it lagged barely a point behind Big Bang.
Touch continues to hover around 6%, which put it well behind TV2’s movie and TV One’s Packed to the Rafters, while TV2’s Mike & Molly remains vulnerable to what’s on TV One and TV3’s newsmags.
For instance, more 25-54 year-olds tuned into the first quarter-hour of Sunday but Mike & Molly dominated in the second quarter-hour.
On Saturday, TV3’s Terra Nova was competitive with TV One’s MasterChef MasterClass but averaged half the viewership of TV2’s American Idol while at 7pm, Hyundai Country Calendar won its slot with 25-54s but was wiped out by TV2’s Wipeout in the other demos.
On Friday, American Idol regained its supremacy over TV3’s HD duo of Glee and The Graham Norton Show, although, ironically, among TV2’s target audience, 18-39 year-olds, viewership was largely split.
This coincides with how American Idol is skewing older in the US — median age 48 — while The Voice is more in sync with younger viewers. As the Los Angeles Times asked: “American Idol: Have They Lost the Kids?“
