HDTV Ratings: April 3

Viewers are flocking to see TV One’s HD wildlife hour, Nature’s Great Events.

Episode three, The Sardine Run, was the most watched yet and squeezed out Tuesday night crowdpleaser Go Girls in every key demographic except TV2’s target audience, 18-39 year-olds.

It averaged 16.5% of household shoppers (compared to Girls’ 11.8%), 12.4% of 25-54 year-olds (vs 9.6%) and 10.1% of 18-49 year-olds (vs 10.0%).

Left in the dust was TV3’s NCIS, with ratings of 4.9%-8.4% — although it retained more of its previous week’s viewership than Go Girls (the same wasn’t true of its Los Angeles stablemate, which dipped a couple of points on average).

Go Girls may have suffered from TV2’s HD comedies being down sharply on the previous week, too, thanks to TV3’s return of Target rating 2-3 times better than time slot predecessor The Private Lives of Dancers, which also boosted Missing Pieces’ ratings by 2-3 points.

As a result, The Middle averaged 10.8% of viewers 18-39 compared to 14.6% the previous week, 10.1% of 25-54 (vs 12.4%), 10.7% of 18-49 (vs 12.5%) and 12.4% of HHS (vs 17.9%), which led to HD lead-out Suburgatory rating lower than last week, too.
