HDTV Ratings: April 30-May 1
TV One’s faith in re-running BBC natural history in HD was again rewarded with Yellowstone’s primetime premiere on Tuesday.
It dominated the 8.30 hour with the demographics that matter most to the network, winning the slot with a 25-54 rating of 11.8% and 18-49 rating of 9.7%.
And among household shoppers, it scored 11.0% compared to Go Girls’ 11.4% and 11.1% for the first hour of TV3’s Comedy Gala.
Go Girls easily won with its target audience — 18-39 — but the popularity of Yellowstone and the comedy special saw it finish third in the older demos.
TV3’s Missing Pieces turned in another strong performance for its season finale, averaging more 18-49 and 25-45 viewers than TV2’s HD comedy Suburgatory and virtually level pegging with it among HHS.
But Suburgatory’s HD lead-in The Middle averaged 11.0%-14.0% and won its slot outright in the 18-39 and HHS demos.
On Monday, TV3’s sensational two-hour season finale of Homeland wasn’t gripping enough to win or even finish second in its slot, averaging 6.6% of HHS/6.4% of the 25-54 demo — compared to Criminal Minds’ 9.5%/10.4% and Desperate Housewives’ 9.8%/12.5%.
After weeks of see-sawing ratings with Minds, Housewives won the slot outright in all demos while HD lead-out Revenge averaged 6.8%-10.0% opposite Person of Interest’s 5.3%-6.9%.
Modern Family held steady opposite the season finale of TV2’s Amazing Race, averaging 6.0%-6.5%, but lead-in Last Man Standing didn’t fare as well: 3.1%-5.0%.
