HDTV Ratings: April 4

Housewives not so desperate for 25-54 year-olds

Steamy HD soap Desperate Housewives last night steamed ahead of Criminal Minds after last week being neck and neck with 25-54 year-olds.

It drew 13.3% of this demographic compared to the lurid police drama’s 11.6%, whereas two weeks ago these ratings were reversed.

Among TV2’s target audience, 18-39 year-olds, the gap was much wider – nearly 2:1 in Wisteria Lane’s favour – while 18-49 year-olds also desire serial housewives over serial killers.

Monday’s other 8.30pm HD drama, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, continues to rate around 7% of 18-49 and 25-54 while its stablemate, The Almighty Johnsons, is out-rating TV2’s, Brothers & Sisters, in most of the major demos, including 18-39.

TV One’s 9.30pm HD option, Castle, trails both, with ratings of 5.5% for 18-49, 6.8% for 25-54 and an unusually low 3.4% for household shoppers with kids.

At 8pm, TV3’s Bigger Better Fast Stronger also is being hopelessly out-paced by the competition, which, in the HHS/kids demo, last night proved to be a dead heat between TV One’s Piha Rescue and TV2’s The Amazing Race.
