HDTV Ratings: August 15

TV3’s free-to-air HD premiere of Iron Man last night crushed the HD competition on TV One.

It helped the network to win the night with 25-54 year-olds, the demographic both TV One and TV3 target.

Iron Man’s 25-54 rating was 10.4% versus Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour’s 7.4% and Castle’s 5.8%.

Iron Man narrowly lost to TV2’s The Mentalist in this demo in its first hour but had the edge on Body of Proof in its second half.

TV3 won a similarly tight race among household shoppers with kids and in the 18-49 and 18-39 demos, rating 10.4% of the latter over Iron Man’s two hours and TV2, 9.9%.

In all of these demos, Iron Man won more quarter-hour segments than Mentalist and Body of Proof.
