HDTV Ratings: December 6
NCIS and its Los Angeles spin-off helped TV3 to dominate last night’s ratings.
TV2 owned the early part of the night, with the unassailable Shortland Street and The Amazing Race winning their slots.
But the NCIS finals crushed The Celebrity Apprentice and TV One’s Blakey profile of Sir Peter Blake.
NCIS averaged 10.5% of 25-54 year-olds and NCIS: Los Angeles, 10.3% — compared to Apprentice’s 5.3% and Blakey’s 5.8%.
The NCIS duo’s numbers were lower for 18-49s and 18-39s but still high enough to win the two-hour slot – although the first half-hour of Apprentice had a higher 18-39 rating.
The same was true of household shoppers with kids, which led to NCIS: LA averaging an unusually high 12.1% compared to its parent show’s 9.4%.
The popularity of NCIS helped Nightline to post high ratings at 10.30pm while last night’s HD re-run of Friends at 6.30pm beat 3 News in most demographics while rivalling One News and winning the half-hour outright with TV2’s target audience, 18-39s.
