UPDATED HDTV Ratings: February 22, 2011
Despite massive interest in news coverage of yesterday’s disastrous Christchurch earthquake, TV2’s Tuesday night HD staples largely maintained or boosted their viewership.
Go Girls, at 8.30pm was watched by 11.8% of 18-39 year-olds, 10.8% of 18-49, 11% of 25-54 and 13.9% of household shoppers with kids.
Stablemate Off the Map dipped further with 18-39 year-olds, from 8.3% the previous week to 6.4%; 18-49 year-olds, from 8% to 6.9%; and 25-54 year-olds, from 8.7% to 7.4%.
But its popularity rose with HHS/kids, up from 10% the previous week to 12.2%.
The networks’ SD coverage of the 6.3 magnitude quake was evenly spread between TV One and TV3 in most of the demographics, although with 18-39 year-olds, TV3 was clearly the winner.
TV3’s peak-hour audience was about double that of the previous week’s normal HD programming.
Meanwhile, because of the earthquake, TV2 is pre-empting a March 10 episode of No Ordinary Family that had an earthquake-driven storyline; expect No Ordinary Quake to screen at a later date.
