HDTV Ratings: February 23-25

Terra Nova is on terra firma ratings-wise.

Saturday’s two-hour premiere of the HD sci-fi series largely won its slot in most of the key demographics.

It averaged 8.8% of 25-54, 7.6% of 18-49 and 6.0% of 18-39.

Only with household shoppers did it lose by less than a point to TV2’s American Idol and Hot Chick movie.

Viewing was mostly sustained, opening with 8.4% of 25-54, peaking at 9.6% and closing on 7.1%.

The 18-49 demo mirrored this while 18-39 recorded a steeper fall, from 7.1% to 4.2%.

And one of TV3’s rare wins this season came on Friday, when The Graham Norton Show resumed its dominance over TV One’s Doc Martin.

Glee couldn’t beat American Idol but was competitive with it in every key demo except HHS while TV3’s post-Norton SD comedies, 7 Days and WANNA-BEn, largely beat TV2’s HD newcomer, Dating in the Dark Australia.

But the news wasn’t so good for TV3 on Thursday, when TV2’s new fairy tale hit, Once Upon a Time, blitzed Bones across the board, averaging 2-3 times as many viewers depending on the demo.

Time’s ratings were up a spectacular four points or so in all the key demos, averaging from 12.8% of 18-49 to 17.8% of HHS.

If you haven’t yet caught up with Time, TV2 is repeating episodes three and four back-to-back from midday Sunday.

Glad to see that Terra Nova did well. Will be interesting to see if it can hold those ratings.

  2. Probably not, the show is awful in every department, even the CGI is pretty crappy.

  3. Each to their own. I found the show to be interesting and entertaining. Not earth shattering though but still enjoyable.
