HDTV Ratings: Fringe vs Nurse Jackie, Outrageous Fortune vs Grey’s Anatomy
The HD season premiere of Fringe narrowly out-rated Nurse Jackie last night — but not with TV2’s target audience.
The sci-fi series drew 8.6% of TV2’s key demo, 18-39 year-olds, compared with Nurse Jackie’s 8.7%. But Fringe won in the other network demos, 25-54 (7.9% vs 7.7%), 18-49 (8.1% vs 7.7%) and household shoppers with kids (11.5% vs 10.8%).
Fringe’s viewership was nearly half that of Private Practice’s season finale the previous week, and well down on the 13.8%-16.8% lead-in Grey’s Anatomy scored with its season finale.
Meanwhile, episode two of the first HD season of Outrageous Fortune posted a sharp drop-off in viewers from last week, rating 18.6% of 18-49 (vs 23.7% for the premiere), 20.7% of 18-39 (vs 24.5%), 17.3% of 25-54 (vs 24.8%), and 19.3% of household shoppers with kids (vs 24.8%).
Another local drama that will screen in HD is Thursday’s premiere of Bloodlines (TV One, 8.30pm), a true-crime dramatisation starring Outrageous Fortune’s Craig Hall.
The $1.4 million telemovie is from the Screentime stable, which produces Beyond the Darklands and Police Ten 7 and whose sister company in Australia makes Underbelly: The Golden Mile, which ends its HD run tonight (TV3. 8.30pm) and bows on DVD today week with two commentaries and three deleted scenes.
