HDTV Ratings: Glee the Apple of TV3’s Eye
The return of Glee on Friday night perked up Radiradirah’s ratings but the much-ballyhooed iPad episode of Sunday’s Modern Family couldn’t cash in on the craze for Apple’s slick new tablet.
The HD musical comedy Glee easily won its slot opposite TV One’s Dancing on Ice and TV2’s The Wedding Date, drawing 11.2% of TV3’s target audience, 18-49 year-olds.
HD sketch comedy Radiradirah could retain barely half of this lead-in (6.6%) but was still up on the previous week’s viewership. Stablemate 7 Days was able to build on this and deliver an 8.5% rating.
After a ratings respite the previous weekend, Sunday’s HD double-bill of The Simpsons and Modern Family took another hiding from TV2’s SD duo, The Big Bang Theory and The Middle.
Sunday’s Modern Family revolved around iPad infatuation, a stunt that producer Jeff Morton has since said “may have gone a little too far in hindsight”.
