HDTV Ratings: July 14-17
TV2’s Saturday night two-hour premiere of The Voice was a big hit with the network’s target audience, drawing 10.5% of 18-39 year-olds.
It was even more popular with 18-49 year-olds — 11.2% — and was watched by 14.6% of household shoppers with kids.
It even had the lion’s share of 25-54 year-olds, the demographic that TV One and TV3 chase.
Meanwhile, the up-and-down ratings fortunes of TV3’s ITM Fishing Show continued, with the final of its apprentice competition drawing the biggest 25-54 audience in weeks: 6.8% versus HD primary industry rival Hyundai Country Calendar’s 11.3%.
On Friday, TV3 won the night in the 25-54 demo with its HD drawcards NZ’s Next Top Model and The Graham Norton Show, and SD panel comedy, 7 Days.
Model, the final of which will air live, was out-rated by TV2’s comedies in all the key demos but was still muscular enough to help lead-outs Norton and Days win their slots.
Both shows rated substantially higher than TV2’s HD duo, The Vampire Diaries and Nikita, which is sapping the first HD season of Supernatural at 10.30pm.
TV3 also won Thursday night, with its season finale of Bones crushing TV2’s HD competition, Chuck, in all the key demos, although TV2’s Rescue 1 remains untouchable.
On Sunday, TV3’s Modern Family narrowed the gap with TV One’s The Food Truck, with 7% of 25-54 year-olds versus the latter’s 9.9%, while CSI: Miami continues to post modest numbers and finish second in key demos behind TV2’s Sunday Premiere Movie.
