HDTV Ratings: July 5-7

TV2’s first season of Chuck in HD is narrowly winning its 8.30pm Thursday slot with the network’s target audiences but losing to Bones in TV3’s key demographics.

Last night it posted 18-39 and 18-49 ratings of 9.1% versus Bones’ 8.9% and 8.3%.

But with TV3’s key demo, 25-54 year-olds, Bones edged ahead and was clearly more popular with household shoppers with kids (10.9% vs 8.9%).

TV2’s Chuck lead-in, Rescue 1, drew 20.4% of HHS/kids, 14.8% of 18-39s, and 14.6% of 18-49s.

Wednesday’s HD documentary on TV One, A Rotten Shame, lost to TV3’s Sons of Anarchy in the 25-54 demo – 6.7% vs 8.4% — but reversed this race with HHS/kids: 10.2% vs 8.8%.

Earlier in the evening, TV3’s Survivor: Redemption Island could manage only 5.3%-5.4% in the key demos opposite TV2’s three-times-as-popular comedies while the 8.30pm combo of The Big Bang Theory and Cougar Town continued to dominate its slot.

Likewise, TV2’s HD sister dramas, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, on Tuesday, with the former pulling twice the audience of TV3’s NCIS in the major demos.

TV3’s season finale of Australian Federal Police didn’t go out with a bang in the 25-54 race, losing to TV2’s My Kitchen Rules in the 25-54 race and drawing with TV One’s Coronation Street.
