HDTV Ratings: Jumper vs Desperate Housewives vs Generation Kill

TV3’s Monday night movie got the jump on the competition when it out-rated TV2’s season finale of Desperate Housewives during its first hour.

Last night’s HD premiere of Jumper averaged 10.9% of TV3’s demo, 18-49 year-olds, from 8.30pm-10.30pm.

It opened with 13.5% (vs Housewives‘ 13.6%) and peaked at 14.1% (vs 13.7%) before losing viewers as the audience lost patience with the preposterous time travel plot.

But even most of its second hour out-rated TV2’s Brothers and Sisters (which averaged 8.4%), before closing on only 6.4%; HD rival Housewives, meanwhile, mustered 14.6% for its final, cliffhanging quarter-hour, and averaged 13.8% for the hour.

Jumper also clobbered the penultimate episode of Generation Kill, which drew only 4.4% of 18-49 and 5.2% of TV One’s demo, 25-54 (11.9% of which tuned into Jumper).

TV3 will use the free-to-air HD premiere of Juno to launch another weeknight movie slot after Glee this week ends it 8.30pm Friday run with renditions of Bohemian Rhapsody, To Sir With Love and another guest turn by Olivia Newton-John.

Meanwhile, today it was revealed that the next season of Glee, which starts in the US in September, will include a tribute to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which is among the modern classics 20th Century Fox has announced it will release shortly on Blu-ray.
