Chuck versus Bones: who won?

Among 18-39 year-olds, TV2’s target audience, and household shoppers with kids it was a dead heat, with 8.2% of the former and 9.5% of the latter.

But last night’s premiere of Chuck’s fourth season – and the first to air here in HD — finished second to Bones among 25-54s (6.6% vs 9%) and18-49s (7.2% vs 8%).

Bones’ popularity and that of its lead-out, Project Runway, helped TV3 to win the night in the 25-54 stakes and led to Nightline winning its 10.30pm slot in most demographics.

But TV2 dominated the early evening with its HD juggernauts, Shortland Street and Rescue 1, and was still rating strongly at 10.30pm, when Fringe bounced back with 4.2% of 18-39 year-olds and 6% of HHS/kids.

On Wednesday night, TV3’s Survivor: Redemption Island, after redeeming itself the previous week, sunk almost without trace opposite TV2’s sitcom marathon, with only 3.8% of 18-49s, 4.4% of 25-54s and 3.6% of HHS/kids.

In comparison, TV2’s comedies averaged 16.6%-21% of these demos.

Sons of Anarchy continues to be TV3’s mid-week trump card, winning its slot in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos, and narrowly losing to TV One’s The Investigator among HHS/kids.
