HDTV Ratings: June 7-10

TV2’s Sunday night repeat of the first Twilight movie out-rated both TV3’s HD premiere of The Lovely Bones and TV One’s NZ true-crime dramatisation, Safe House.

Safe House opened this year’s Audi NZ Sunday Theatre season and averaged 5.1%-7.9% of key demographics compared with Twilight’s 8.2%-12.9% and Bones’ 5.7%-7.8%.

Bones finished second to Twilight in every key demographic except household shoppers, where it was narrowly beaten by Safe House (7.3% vs 7.9%).

TV One’s Nigel Latta special, Surviving Teen Driving, under-fired as well, averaging 6.5%-8.8% against The Big Bang Theory’s 11.4%-14.1% and Modern Family’s 6.5%-7.0%.

After last week’s decline, Big Bang also bounced back at 8pm, with ratings of 10.8%-15.4%, after Mike & Molly’s 10.8%-15.0%.

TV3’s Ice Road Truckers had a good run on Saturday, averaging 6.0%-7.2% while lead-out CSI had to settle for 3.7%-5.0%.

ITM Fishing Show lured slightly fewer viewers at 7pm opposite Hyundai Country Calendar, which won the slot with 9.4%-14.2% of the key demos.

On Friday, TV2 again dominated the night, although TV3’s The Graham Norton Show was competitive with The Voice, with ratings of 8.4%-11.1%, while TV One’s HD repeat of Sherlock averaged only 1.5%-4.6% over its two hours.

But the biggest loser was TV3’s Hounds, the second episode of which sunk to only 2.6%-3.3% of the key demos – or a third of SD lead-in 7 Days and roughly half the viewership of its premiere.

On Thursday, Once Upon a Time again proved twice as enchanting for viewers as The Finder, which, with ratings of 5.4%-6.8%, didn’t average much higher than Fringe, which aired two hours later with 4.6%-5.2% of key demos.
