HDTV Ratings: June 9-12

Five Minutes of Heaven

TV One’s surprise HD presentation of last night’s movie, Five Minutes of Heaven, out-rated TV3’s drama combo of House and CSI: Miami.

And with 25-54 year-olds, it was neck-and-neck with TV2’s movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic.

TV One didn’t bill either Five Minutes of Heaven or lead-out Artsville: Dame Ngaio Marsh – Crime Queen as being in HD, which is surprising given the network has been given little opportunity to flex its HD muscle.

There was better news for TV3 last night, with its persistently low-rating comedy, Modern Family, drawing more 18-49 and 25-54 year-olds than usual: 6.8% of the former and 7.4% of the latter.

TV2’s HD sitcom, The Middle, continues to fluctuate, with last night’s episode barely beating the current affairs shows on TV One and TV3.

On Saturday, TV One’s Hyundai Country Calendar remains more popular than TV3’s HD option, ITM Fishing Show, but was only three rating points ahead in the 18-49 demographic.

TV3’s decision to re-run Outrageous Fortune from the beginning rated lower than most of its HD movies have in the 8.30pm Saturday slot this year.

But Friday’s return of NZ’s Next Top Model helped TV3 to win the night with a high-rating HD line-up.

Model couldn’t top TV2’s comedy combo, although it out-rated the HD Better With You in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos, and helped to bolster The Graham Norton Show, which, with guests Lady Gaga and Geoffrey Rush, won the 8.30pm hour in all the major demos.

On Thursday, the see-saw HD contest between TV2’s No Ordinary Family and TV3’s Bones was narrowly won by the latter but TV2’s Rescue 1 remains unassailable, with 13%+ ratings in the 18-39, 18-49 and 25-54 demos, and 21.1% of household shoppers with kids.
