HDTV Ratings: Madagascar 2, Meet Dave, Coasters, Nights in the Garden of Spain, Better With You

TV3’s Sunday night HD double-bill of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Meet Dave barely sunk TV2’s SD competition, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.

Madagascar drew 9.3% of TV3’s traditional audience, 18-49 year-olds, and Meet Dave, 9.9%, compared with Pirates’ 9.2%.

But with the viewers TV3 will court this year, 25-54 year-olds, Madagascar averaged 9.4%, Meet Dave 10.1% and Pirates, 9.8%.

With TV2’s target demo, 18-39 year-olds, Madagascar averaged 8.3%, Meet Dave 9.9% and Pirates 9.3%.

TV One’s HD Sunday Theatre drama, Nights in the Garden of Spain, drew 8.9% of 25-54 year-olds while the network’s new Saturday night HD drawcard, Coasters, thrashed the competition with 13.3% and also won in most of the major demos.

TV2’s new Friday night HD sitcom, Better With You, out-rated TV3’s HD rival, Best of Glee, threefold with 18-39 and 18-49 while TV2’s return of American Idol, in SD, crushed TV3’s HD opposition, The Graham Norton Show.
