HDTV Ratings: March 10-13

The Good Wife's Julianna Margulies (left) and Christine Baranski have good reason to look worried

Last night’s HD season-two premiere of The Good Wife was bad news for TV3’s ratings.

Depending on the demographic, two-to-three times more viewers opted for TV2’s movie, Norbit, while TV One’s female-skewed Offspring drew up to twice the audience.

The Good Wife’s viewership was down sharply on its lead-in, House, delivering only 3.9% of 18-49 year-olds, 4.7% of 25-54 year-olds and 5% of household shoppers with kids.

TV3’s ratings rose a couple of rating points in each of these demos when 7 Days aired after The Good Wife, even though the one-off Sunday screening of the pre-empted Friday edition wasn’t widely promoted.

Modern Family, with one of its worst episodes to date, largely maintained its 7pm viewership but one that was two-to-three times smaller than TV One’s HD rival, North.

TV3’s HD premiere of its Saturday movie, Bride Wars, was competitive with Under the Tuscan Sun on TV One but was outrated nearly 2:1 by TV2’s US Marshals.

TV3 won the Friday night ratings race with its extended coverage of the earthquake in Japan but on Thursday, TV2’s No Ordinary Family had the edge on TV3’s Bones after the two were neck-and-neck the previous week.
